<p>An ambitious project to create the world’s first moon clock powered by the tides is currently planned for the edge of the Thames River in London, England. Designed by UK artist Laura Williams while she was in her third year of a study in an Arts &amp; Design course at <em>Central Saint Martins,</em> the completed <em>Aluna Moon Clock,</em> will be larger than <em>Stonehenge</em> and forty metres wide.</p>
<p><span id="more-1906"></span><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-1909" title="aluna2" src="http://sepientia.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/aluna2.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="383" /></p>
<p>The five storey high structure is made up of three concentric translucent recycled glass rings that illuminate to provide information about the moon. With light generated from the tides, the rings show the Moon’s movement, current phase as well as the ebb and flow of the tides.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-1907" title="aluna3" src="http://sepientia.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/aluna3.jpg" alt="" width="533" height="359" /></p>
<p>Created as both a waterside landmark and public sculpture, the <em>Aluna Project</em> hopes to create <em>Aluna Moon Clocks</em> in both London and Melbourne. [<a href="http://www.greenmuze.com/art/artists/1513-aluna-moon-tidal-clock-.html">via</a>]</p>
