Hybrid car is an automobile that uses a combination of at least two unlike fuel sources for its impulsion. Even though many combinations can be possible, normally when people are discussing about hybrid cars, they are referring to cars with the combination of either an electric motor, or a gasoline engine, or a battery that influences the electric motor and stores energy for future use.

Due to effective use of technology, hybrid cars develop much higher gas mileage than any other vehicle. In fact hybrid cars stands at the top spot for the most fuel economy car in their relevant categories; compact cars, two-seaters and mid size cars.

Hybrid cars work flawlessly incorporating gas engine, high-powered battery and an electric motor. The battery generates power for the electric motor and is revitalized by recalling energy that would normally be lost when losing its pace or coasting. This recalling of energy is said to regenerating braking. If required, energy from the gas engine can be transferred to recharge the battery as well. Because of these charging approaches, hybrid cars never need to be plugged in.

Full hybrids incorporate the gas engine, electric motor and battery so that the electricity can activate on its own in definite conditions. For some hybrid cars this happens at low speed, and when the car approaches high speed, gasoline engine starts up and takes over. Under the solid acceleration, both the engines electric motor and gas engine works simultaneously and provide the required power.

Hybrid car is categorized in such a way that the arrangement of the internal combustion engine, battery system and electric drive motor permit the hybrid car to be activated solely by the electric motor under definite operating circumstances; normally in low speed strategy and slow cruising.

AORA, a leading Israeli solar energy technology company, launched world’s first hybrid solar thermal power station at Kibbutz Samar in southern Israel.

This marked the first time that concentrating solar power (CSP) stations can provide environmentally-friendly power 24 hours a day, according to AORA’s CEO, Haim Fried.

AORA’s “Power Flower” station, named due to its unique yellow tulip design, consists of a field of 30 tracking mirrors (heliostats) situated on half an acre of land.

Each of the station’s 30 heliostats tracks the sun and reflects its rays towards the top of a 30 meter-high tower housing a special solar receiver along with a 100 kilowatt gas turbine.

The patented receiver uses the solar energy to heat air to a temperature of 1,000 degrees Celsius and directs this energy into the turbine, which converts the thermal energy into electric power that will be fed directly into the national grid.

Besides solar energy, the power station can also run on other alternative fuel, including bio-gas, bio-diesel and natural gas. So the station can produce electricity when sunlight is insufficient, such as at night or when it is cloudy.

Alternative power was used for the first time in 1920, during electric vehicles and steam-powered capitulated to the internal combustion engine. An actual image is starting to appear on alternative power systems for the coming years. Millions of dollars have been spent for development of alternative power and still in developing new means of vehicle impulsion, that too with good reason. The automobile industry is underneath an increasing pressure to cut down pollution by developing eco-friendly cars.

Hybrid automobiles, which use electric motors and gas or diesel engines, also are being created with some positive outcomes. But hybrids are more expected to serve as a connection from one technology to the other.

It also will be attracting to see how auto manufacturers organize the proprietary technology that further develops fuel cells. Obviously the fuel cell developer will have a good deal of say in manufacturing and vehicle design in future.

Certainly, the incorporation of any alternative power will not take place overnight. Such revolution could take 15 to 20 years before any thing could arise in technology. But if fuel cell demonstrates to the alternative power source the auto manufacturers are looking for, the result will be an impressive change in what makes a vehicle go; as well as the kind of plants required to produce them.

>It is very important to seek workable and affordable sources of alternative energy before the world completely uses the stock of fossil fuels which is already limited. Many countries have started working to introduce alternative power schemes and some have already invested money into exploring and even introducing different sources of renewable energy. While it is important that we become less dependent or not dependent at all on fossil fuels, many kinds of alternative power has its disadvantages as well as their noticeable advantages. It will show that advantages will outweigh the disadvantages in many cases.

Some of the examples of alternative power are wind energy, bio fuels, solar energy, hydropower and some other renewable sources.
